Day 4 recap

The last day would prove to be the most exciting day of them all.

We would start off with the final games in the round robin of the Pee Wee AA Select division. This was a very competitive division as no team finished perfect in the round robin. The closest would be the 1 and 2 seeds, 949 Anarchy Red and Reebok Jr Ducks Eschelon respectively, who both finished 2-0-1 with their tie coming against each other. Tour Raw Steel OG 96 had only 1 win in the round robin and came in as the 4th seed. They would have to battle the 5th seeded Reebok Jr Ducks Kryptonics in order to get a chance to face off the highly powerful 949 Anarchy. They would eventually overpower Kryptonics and move on to battle 949. The game would go back and forth but Raw Steel scored last and won 3-2 to move to the final. Tour Outcasts finished 0-2-1 in round robin and took the 6th seed. They then had to battle the 3rd seeded Labeda XDH. They would score 3 goals in the first 3 minutes enroute to an 8-3 win and a faceoff against the 2nd seeded Ducks Eschelon. The Outcasts momentum would not last losing 5-2. Tour Raw Steel against Ducks Eschelon. The dream matchup. Kunichika vs Arsenault. This was one of the best games of the tournament but someone had to win. The Raw Steel held on to a 4-3 lead late in the game to secure the title.

Pee Wee A Select would see Reebok HB, 949 Anarchy, Eschelon Puckhogs & Ducks Hyper all make the semis. Both semis would finish 2-1 with the 1 seed (Reebok HB) and the 3rd seed (Puckhogs) moving into the finals. The game would end 3-3 in regulation. Overtime would come and go with zero goals. Onto the shootout. Reebok HB goaltender stood on his head to defeat the Puckhogs and finish with the 1st place banner.

Pee Wee A Elite would see a dominating performance by the Mission Raiders finishing with 18 goals for and 5 goals against int he round robin and a 3-0 record. They would continue their dominance in the semis taking it to the Yuma Blaze 7-4. The High Rollers, who came in as the 4th seed, were just coming to have fun. They finished with 13 GF and 10 GA in round robin. They would be matched up against an undefeated & powerful SD Stingrays team who also went 3-0 and a 17 GF and 3 GA performance in RR. The High Rollers had no chance. They would have to beat the 1 & 2 seeds to take home the title. Here is why they play the game. They would have better goaltending in the playoffs. They would have better defense in the playoffs. They would play as a team. They handed the Stingrays their first defeat 3-1. The final would be the last game of the day. That still couldn't stop the Rollers. They would play even more solid defense shutting out the Raiders 2-0 in the final.

Midget A would see both Raw Steel clubs as the 1 and 2 seeds. The Stingrays would come out as the 4th seed while the SD Selects would take the 3rd seed. Both teams would be victorious in the first round of the playoffs beating Labeda XDH and Rubin respectively. The Selects would not stop their as they steamrolled the Raw Steel 92's. The Raw Steel Selects would have a great performance from their goalie in the semis winning 3-0 over the Rays. Raw Steel and Selects would face off in the final. Too much Haar and Shannon as the Raw Steel took hom the trophy 6-3.

Midget AA would see our first 1-0 semi final game of the finals. The Mission Raiders (1st seed, 2-0-2) would beat the Pama Prospects even though their goalie had some car problems. AKS 91/92 would make easy work of the 2nd seeded Reebok HB 8-2. Mission Raiders and AKS 91/92 would play 24 stop time minutes with the score tied 3-3 after the regulation periods. OT would be scoreless as well and another shootout to determine the champs. AKS would prove to be the better team in shootout winning 4-3.

The finals was a great event. Thank you to Nabeel with Revision Hockey, Labeda, Tour, EFX Performance as well as everyone at the 949 Roller Hockey Center. They did a great job with everything.

Hope to see you in the 2010-2011 season!!!

Day 3 recap

Today was littered with Revision Skills competition's, playoff games and championship games. Let's just say it did not disappoint!

Images/RVRevisionHockeyLogo2.gif

We will provide the list of Revision Skills competition winners with the results from Monday as the Pee Wee division skills competition takes place.

We would crown champions in the Atom, Mite A, Mite AA, Squirt A Select, Squirt A Elite, Squirt AA & Pee Wee Elite divisions.

The Atom division was just fun to watch. When it was all said and done it would come down to 3 teams....Reebok HB, 949 Anarchy AAA & Reebok Jr Ducks Eschelon. The Ducks and Reebok HB would be the 2 and 3 seeds while the Anarchy waited anxiously. Even though the teams tied in the round robin today would be a much different story as the Ducks dominated HB 8-3 heading to the final. The Ducks were defeated in round robin by the Anarchy in a shootout 9-6. The teams would battle to the very end as the Ducks score late and last and defeat the powerful Anarchy 4-3.

Mite A would feature AKS 2000 and West Covina High Rollers. Both teams had a tough road to the final and played to a pack crowd. The High Rollers started out fierce and would not let up as AKS could not get anything going. Team AKS 2000 was given the first ever WIHA "Perseverance Award". This is given to the team with more determination than anyone else playing WIHA. Congrats to both squads.

Mite AA would come down to a couple of goals separating all 4 teams. Both semi final games would be decided at the very end with one game going into a shootout. Thousand Oaks would prevail in that game and would be battling the 949 Anarchy who defeated the Reebok Jr Ducks Eschelon 3-1. 949 (who was the first seed) scored a couple of quick ones early and took home the WIHA crown beating the Bruins 6-2

Squirt A Select would see a very determined 949 Anarchy team come to play. They finished 4th in the round robin (9th overall) but got hot at the right time.  The soundly defeated Reebok HB but would then have to battle the 1st seeded Thousand Oaks Bruins. 949 seemed like a team of destiny as they would hand the Bruins an unexpected loss 4-3 and advance to the final. On the other side of the spectrum the Puckhogs were gaining their own momentum. They would narrowly defeat Team Redline 3-2 to advance. Team Redline represented Nor Cal very well and wanted to thank them for participating. 949 Anarchy's luck would run out in the final as the Puckhogs hung on to win 4-2.

Squirt A Elite featured some great games. The first two playoff games were won late in the second period and both by 1 goal. The Ducks Hyper, who finished 2-0-1 in the round robin would come up short against their counterparts Ducks Kryptonics 3-2. The Tour Raw Steel were steamrolling along as they compiled a 2-0-1 while winning their first playoff game 8-4 over the Blades 99. The Raw Steel could not be defeated could they? Mishk Drury broke down some film on the Kunichika lead Steel putting them in check 6-0.

Squirt AA would see all 6 teams get at least 1 point and only 1 won all 3 round robin games. The final 4 would come down to the end as both the 5th (Devil Dogs) and 6th (949 Anarchy) seeds almost upset to get to semis but both fell just short. Nick Boyarsky's Outcasts outlasted the Blade 98 4-3 while the RBK Jr Ducks Eschelon would hold the San Diego Selects in check 4-1. Both teams would put the pedal to the metal scoring 12 goals in the final. Outcasts scored late to stay in the driver seat and win the title 7-5.

Pee Wee AA Elite would see the top 14U teams in the South West. Tour Raw Steel Selects had a tough round robin as they finished 0-2-1. They would lose two games 3-2 and tie the other to finish with 6 GS & 8 GA. The 1 seed was the Joe Cook lead Rink Rat Split 95. They would finish 3-0 in round robin but it sure wasn't easy. The Rink Rat and AZ Phylers would meet in round robin with the 'Rats' winning 6-4. They would meet in the final. We played two periods but a winner could not be decided as regulation ended 4-4. We would then play an overtime period. Result? A Tie....still. We would need a shootout to decide the championship. Rink Rat goaltender was much too strong stopping all 3 out of 4 Phyler shots.

Tomorrow brings us 5 more championships....Pee Wee A Select, Pee Wee A Elite, Pee Wee AA Select, Midget A and Midget AA divisions. See you at the rink!!!

WIHA Finals Day 1 & Day 2 recap
Day 1 recap

The Bantam A, Bantam AA and Junior divisions would start the WIHA finals Friday night schedule. The 949 Roller Hockey Center is on fire!

Bantam A would see Reebok Jr Ducks Kryptonics and Reebok Jr Ducks Hyper go undefeated in the first 3 round robin games both going 3-0. This is a wide open division as out of the 9 games played on Friday the largest margin of victory would be 4 goals.

Bantam AA would see Tour Raw Steel 94 OG (3-0), Reebok Jr Ducks Eschelon (2-0-1) and San Diego Select (1-0-2) all lead the pack after the first day. Again, no mercies and nothing but great games!

The Juniors is just a great division with some of the best hockey players in the world playing. We would play 6 games on this night and even saw a 10-7 football score between Reebok Jr Ducks Eschelon and Pama Prospects as Prospects star John Siemer shattered the glass on a wicked slapshot.

I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!!!

Day 2 recap

We would crown three WIHA champions today! The Bantam A, Bantam AA and Junior divisions would all be finished.

The Atoms, Mites and Squirt A division would begin the day. The atoms are so fun to watch and with 5 teams in this tournament it would be some great competition as well. Also starting today would be Squirt AA, Pee Wee A, Pee Wee AA Elite and the Midget AA divisions.

First off to the Championship results.

The Bantam A division would see the top 4 teams make it to the playoffs. Reebok Jr Ducks Hyper would secure the top seed while Labeda XDH. Reebok Jr Ducks Kryptonics and Mission Raiders would round out the top 4. The WIHA points leader, West Covina High Rollers Black, failed to make it to the playoffs finishing with 3 points but falling short on goals allowed. The 2nd seeded XDH took advantage of a undisciplined Ducks Kryptonics team to easily beat them 6-1 while the Raiders hung on to beat the 1st seed Ducks Hyper. Labeda would come out strong and take an early lead and keep the puck away from the Raiders taking home the WIHA title 4-1

The Bantam AA division would feature 7 of the best teams in California. Tour Raw Steel OG 94 would finish the round robin with a 3-0-1 record and the top seed. Reebok Jr Ducks Eschelon, Rink Rat Split 94 & San Diego Select would advance to playoffs. The Selects and Raw Steel would battle in the semis in a penalty filled game that went into overtime and then a shootout. The Selects would prevail 6-5 and advance. The Ducks Eschelon would fight off a pesky Rink Rat Split 94 6-4 to face off against the Selects. The Selects must have ran out of gas as they hit a brick wall in the Ducks as the Ducks dominated 5-1

The Junior division would see AKS 88 and Reebok Jr Ducks Eschelon meet in the final. I can tell you first had that the game was great as I reffed it. The speed and agility of these players is amazing. Junior Cadiz is just fun to watch. The strength of Strech is incredible. Barber is as fast as I have seen. The game was fast and had a slew of great goals. Eschelon would get a late goal to take a 5-3 lead. AKS 88 quickly scored to bring it to 5-4. AKS fiercely attacked but just fell short of the title.

More great hockey to come tomorrow!!!
